Dainfern Golf Estate at a glance

Dainfern is a mature, secure Golf and Residential Estate which has evolved over 1200 homes since its inception in 1992.

The Estate offers an unparallelled lifestyle and recreational experience centered around the Gary Player designed golf course enhanced by nature trails, parks and sports facilities all located in its own 320 hectare "suburb". Dainfern represent a variety of architectural styles and tastes, creating a unique and personal experience. The Estate is divided into villages, each having their own character.

Dainfern is a sanctuary withing the energetic, vigorous metropolis of Johannesburg where children can safely ride their bikes in the street or play in one of the eleven playgrounds and parks the Estate offers Dainfern is a small municipality in itself and is central to the other estates and developments that form the regional precinct that surrounds the estate. Dainfern provides a very secure environment for its residents, where there is no fear of crime and an all-inclusive lifestyle that caters for all members of the community.

A vision was born. In 1986 JCI purchased the company Dainfern Investments (Pty) Ltd and submitted an application for a township to be known as "Dainfern" to be developed on the outskirts of Fourways. This pioneering act would see Dainfern develop into Gauteng's first Residential Golf Estate, Dainfern, a private Estate nestled away in the north east of Johannesburg, was acquired by Johnnic Properties in 1985. The old Fourways Golf Course formed part and parcel of the acreage acquired by Johnnic Properties and, after a great deal of research, consulting, planning and negotiation, the premier lifestyle Estate, Dainfern, was born.

Dainfern's 72 par 18 hole golf course is regarded as one of South Africa's top 100 courses. Designed by golfing legend, Gary Player, who has designed over 300 courses worldwide. The course tests the skills of proficient golfers, with play crossing the Jukskei River six times. The course has some of the most scenic yet challenging holes in the country and is one of South Africa's most exciting golf venues. It was the second golf estate to be launched in South Africa and the first in Gauteng. Dainfern continually strives to maintain its championship profile by putting emphasis on the visual aspect of the course as well as the playability of the course. We have done this by the planting of trees, building new cart paths and new bunkering to toughen up certain holes.

A focal point of the estate is the Juskei River, which flows through the layout with the elevated tee positions that provide magnificent views of the surrounding High-veld terrain. The golf course is one of Gauteng's 'must-play' layouts and offers a green lung in the midst of the Johannesburg conurbation.

Guests are welcome to enjoy breakfast, lunches or dinner whilst taking in the views of the golf course and estate. A beautiful Clubhouse with its modern facilities including a restaurant, Members' Lounge, Halfway House and conference facilities completes the picture. Business people are able to host conferences, product launches and team building events for their clients and staff in a secure setting with added features such as a delicious lunch, a game of golf or sundowners overlooking the river. For residents there is nothing better than spending a tranquil Saturday or Sunday morning on the deck having breakfast with an unparalleled view of exquisite beauty spread out before you.

The golfers lounge is decked in a casual but well-designed style and is complimented by a large seated bar area which stocks all the brands from whiskies, wines and beers. Complimentary Lifestyle events take place throughout the year and are an important element in forging a strong sense of community - annual events include The Easter Egg Hunt, Mother's and Father's Day celebrations, a Christmas Market, Halloween Trick or Treating, and Carols by Candlelight. The DHA host a Family Fun Day at the Pavilion every so often which sees over 2000 people descending on the Pavilion for a day of fun, entertainment and shopping.

Dainfern is a small municipality in itself and is central to the other estates and developments that form the precinct that surrounds the Estate. Dainfern Golf Estate, Dainfern Valley, Dainfern West, Dainfern Ridge and all of the other estates that have built about around this area now form a bustling community of property owners.

Shopping is abundant with the Fern Shopping Centre, the Valley Shopping Centre and the newly built, Dainfern Square all within 1 kilometre of the gates of the various Estates.

Lauded as the most secure residential Estate in the country in several reviews, the Dainfern community is made up of a large expatriate community who choose Dainfern for its tight security and easy living, as well as its proximity to world-class schools.
